Pharmacy techs can work toward their certification online. Before you get started however, you should know that there a couple of federal regulatory agencies in charge of awarding certificates. Additionally, there are several state licensing agencies, however, so check with your local board before committing to a formal training program. You don’t want to find out after the fact that you are in the wrong class. If you are in a locale that doesn’t issue a license, you can still apply for an earn one in another area that may help your efforts at getting hired. Many of those you will be competing against won’t have much to offer besides on the job training.

Many pharmacy tech online certification programs can be found through the major online schools in your area. Additional sources of these training courses include those offered by local hospitals, pharmacies, junior colleges, universities, community colleges, vocational schools, and colleges. A good program will also include an internship that will give you real life experience working in a commercial pharmacy or hospital. This experience can also give you a huge leg up in finding a job to work at after graduation.
